Going to the Canyon areas of southern Utah every year to hike, camp, paint, and take photographs are journeys of spiritual renewal for me. The purpose is not just to escape the busyness of modern life, but to go towards something: the beauty and vastness of the natural world that we forget to see and experience. For many years I’ve referred to this as “visiting reality”.
I paint to extend and deepen my relationship with nature, particularly with the canyon areas of southern Utah. Whether we choose to spend our time with natural reality or social reality is up to us. Painting for me is play, work, therapy, and worship. I find beauty and God in Nature
